I am comparing the play; ‘Teechers’ by John Godber, to the play that I :: Drama

I am examine the scam Teechers by John Godber, to the play that I latterly took divide in and helped to write The Victim. The plot of ourThe Victim and TeechersI am comparing the play Teechers by John Godber, to the play that Irecently took part in and helped to write The Victim. The plot ofour play- The Victim- is ground around bullying and domesticviolence. The main storyline is around a young schoolgirl called Jessmoving to a smart area and a new school. She is singled out by the otherpeople at the school and a group of girls begin to bully her. Her al-Qaedalife isnt frequently better though- Jess mum is a schizophrenic and abusesJess both verbally and physically. Jess copes with the melodic line of itall at first but then it starts to depress her and she thinks aboutcommitting suicide. The bullies carry on tormenting Jess and a nastytrick is the final straw. Jess goes home and tries to find comfort inher mum who rejects her, this leads to Jess taking an overdose.Althoug h the plot of Teechers is a lot different to the plot of TheVictim, the basic setting is sooner similar Teechers is besides set ina school and groundbreaking day life. Teechers vigorously evokes life at amodern Comprehensive, exploitation the format of an end-of-term play tosketch a drama teachers progress through two terms of recalcitrantclasses, cynical colleagues and clogging caretakers until hedeparts for the safer waters of a private school. The play runs thegamut of emotions, mostly humour, to lay out the main themes of theplay. The play to an extent comments on the flaws of the educationsystem the gentle it self is a political statement, instead of being spell teachers its spelt Teechers, almost a comedic dig at thesystem which has failed to teach the pupils correctly. In our play the main themes are bullying, domestic violence andisolation, but references are also made to suicide, mental illness andfitting in. We used these issues because they are things thatteenagers in particular may experience and so the sense of hearing could maybe touch to the play. By choosing to explore these issues we may alsoraise awareness of things bid bullying and domestic violence and helppeople to understand the issues involved. so by using thesethemes we made the play to a greater extent personal to the audience and moreemotional therefore they may enjoy the play more and feel moreinvolved. The themes of Teechers are quite different to the themes stated
