"A People's History of the United States" Ch. 1 Reflection

A Peoples Hi write up of the United States: Reflection Chapter 1 Columbus, the Indians, and Human Progress To re-start this chapter, Howard Zinn covers a period of time in which exploration was at its peak and the unknown, over periods of months and sometimes years, was cursorily made known. The finish of exploration at this time was money and other items of harbor that were supposed to be gathered (by whatever means necessary) and brought choke to the homeland. Zinn begins the retelling of floor with one of the most known events in history: the arrival of Christopher Columbus at the indies. Columbus, funded by Spain, sails to what is actually the Bahamas with 3 ships. He arrives, welcomed by the Arawak Indians, and at the frontmost sight of prosperous (which came from the gold earrings on the Indians ears) alsok some captive and demanded that he be shown the site of the gold. Over time, there were more than trips to the Bahamas in look to of gold. However, wit h all of the foreign stimuli, its no wonder the Arawaks started falling like flies. The European diseases brought over by the sailors were unfamiliar to the Indians, and their bodies prove unable to fight back against the germs. As they were being invest to work by the thousands, the physical and noetic exhaustion unite with the disease that was constantly attacking proved to be upright too much, and they would die in droves. The harder they worked, the scalelike it brought them to deaths door, and Columbus, blinded by greed, was seemingly unaware. The recurrence of his cruelty had been too much for him to lessen the work load.
